What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Custom Embroidery Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Custom Embroidery Specialist, you need strong skills in embroidery techniques, design interpretation, and attention to detail, often supported by experience or training in textile arts. Familiarity with embroidery machines, digitizing software (such as Wilcom or Hatch), and file management systems is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills help you collaborate with clients and deliver quality results remotely. These skills ensure precise, creative, and timely completion of custom embroidery projects while maintaining client satisfaction in a virtual work environment.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote custom embroidery role, and how can they be managed effectively?

In a remote custom embroidery role, one common challenge is coordinating with clients and team members to ensure design specifications are clearly understood and met, especially without in-person meetings. Managing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting technical issues independently is also crucial, as immediate on-site support may not be available. Staying organized with digital order management systems and maintaining clear communication through email or project management tools can help overcome these challenges, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality results.

What is remote custom embroidery?

Remote custom embroidery is the process of designing and creating personalized embroidered items, such as clothing, hats, or bags, from a location outside of a traditional storefront or workshop. This work is typically done from home or a private studio, using embroidery machines and digital design software. Clients can submit their designs or ideas online, and the embroiderer creates and ships the finished products directly to them. This arrangement allows for flexibility, a broader customer base, and often lower operating costs compared to in-person embroidery services.

Job description

WELCOMEAbout Us

We are a leading provider of enterprise promotional products, branded merchandise programs, global fulfillment solutions, and the event marketing sector. We are committed to delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to our clients. Our team thrives on creativity, collaboration, and dedication to exceeding customer expectations. As we expand, we seek a sales professional who embodies our values and is ready to contribute to our growth story.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly focused and detail-oriented Sales Estimating Specialist to support our Inside Sales team. This person will play a critical role in quoting jobs accurately and efficiently, ensuring no detail is overlooked in a fast-paced environment where customer needs and specs can change quickly. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, thrives under pressure, and understands the importance of accuracy and responsiveness in a sales support role. Prior experience in screen printing, embroidery, or promotional products is a major plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with inside sales reps to generate timely, accurate quotes for screen-printing, embroidery, and promotional product jobs.

  • Follow up on sent quotes to help drive closure and ensure timely responses to clients.

  • Review customer specifications, art files, and purchase orders to ensure all necessary details are captured in each estimate.

  • Update quotes as needed based on client changes, ensuring version control and accuracy.

  • Maintain and organize quote logs, keeping track of job status and communication timelines.

  • Liaise with production, purchasing, and art departments to validate feasibility, timelines, and pricing where needed.

  • Provide clear, concise communication to sales and internal teams regarding updates or required revisions.

  • Assist in identifying pricing inconsistencies or opportunities for margin improvement.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in quoting, estimating, or sales support (preferably in custom products or manufacturing).

  • Experience in the screen printing industry is a strong plus.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through; nothing slips past you.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills; must be able to manage multiple quotes and tasks at once without losing focus.

  • Ability to stay composed and accurate when under pressure or facing last-minute changes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quoting software (experience with Printavo, PriceIt or similar platforms is a plus. If not, training will be provided).

  • Self-starter who thrives in a remote work environment.

  • Strong math and logic skills — ability to calculate costs, margins, and price breaks quickly and correctly.

Engagement Details
  • Location: Remote (based in South Africa)

  • Schedule: EST hours

  • Compensation: $1,500 monthly

    Why This Role is Unique
  • You’ll be at the heart of our quoting and estimating engine, a critical force behind sales success.

  • Work with a growing, fast-paced team that values precision, clarity, and responsiveness.

  • Long-term growth opportunity within a larger organization with multiple divisions.

  • You’ll play a key role in shaping how the brand scales its quoting and sales support.
