Job description

Trueline is seeking a Project Manager, Civil Engineering & Public Works to join their team in Anaheim, CA. Hybrid schedule 3 onsite days, one remote and a 4-day work week. This is a visible, client-facing leadership role overseeing roadway and public works projects from design through delivery, with strong long-term upside for someone who wants to grow into a senior leadership seat at a stable, relationship-driven firm. The firm publicly describes itself as a full-service consulting practice founded in 2004 that supports public agency work across project management, civil engineering, construction management, inspection, plan-checking, and related services, with an Anaheim office and a strong emphasis on quality, responsiveness, and long-term relationships.

What You'll Do as the Project Manager, Civil Engineering & Public Works:

  • Lead multiple active public works and roadway projects through planning, design, coordination, and delivery
  • Manage schedules, budgets, milestones, and client expectations across concurrent municipal assignments
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for city, county, and other public agency clients
  • Review engineering plans, design packages, and project deliverables for quality and compliance
  • Guide engineers and designers working in Civil 3D and support strong internal execution
  • Coordinate across internal teams, subconsultants, and stakeholders to keep projects moving
  • Build trust-based client relationships that support repeat work and long-term partnerships
  • Help strengthen project management processes while contributing to the growth of the engineering group

Project Manager, Civil Engineering & Public Works Requirements:

  • Active California PE license with the ability to stamp plans
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience
  • Strong background in public works or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Proven roadway project experience, including work such as paving, widening, sidewalks, curb ramps, and ADA-related improvements
  • Experience managing several projects at once in different phases
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, or a comparable CAD background with the ability to get up to speed quickly
  • Confidence in a client-facing role with public agency stakeholders
  • Strong communication, organization, and project ownership skills

Nice-to-Haves as the Project Manager, Civil Engineering & Public Works:

  • Experience working directly with municipal clients, city engineers, or public works departments
  • Familiarity with Caltrans standards, Greenbook requirements, and local agency review processes
  • Experience with QA/QC practices for public works design
  • Comfort with project tracking tools and modern workflow systems
  • Background in a consulting environment serving public agencies
  • Interest in mentoring others and growing into broader team leadership

We Offer:

  • Base salary targeted at $185,000-$200,000, with flexibility for stronger candidates
  • Full-time role with a 36-hour workweek and Fridays off
  • Hybrid schedule with 3 in-office days and 1 remote day
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with employer contribution and Day 1 vesting
  • 3 weeks of PTO plus holidays
  • Clear path toward future leadership and director-level growth
  • A collaborative environment that values stability, retention, and long-term relationships

Trueline and its clients are unabashed equal-opportunity employers committed to a diverse workforce. We welcome smart and ambitious applicants and recruit, refer, hire, place, and promote without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by federal or state law.
