Job description

IMEG is hiring a Construction Administrator in St. Louis, Missouri, to perform site observations during construction and provide information to contractors as requested. In this role, you will keep engineers informed of project status, identify potential problems or liability issues, and observe work through meetings and site visits to determine whether progress and quality of workmanship align with the contract documents. You'll also support engineering teams focused on a variety of vertical building design projects.

This role is eligible to be based out of St. Louis, MO; Kansas City, MO; or remotely within the St. Louis Region/South Central Missouri.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Review project scope, budget, and contracted services requirements
  • Meet with operations, project management, and design team members to confirm project expectations and the Construction Administrator's role
  • Prepare work schedules and time projections, and coordinate assigned work with the Construction Supervisor and design engineers
  • Review and interpret contract documents with contractors, obtain needed input from design engineers, and issue reports regarding project deficiencies
  • Collect data, review change orders with the design engineer, and support preparation of project closeout documents
  • Confer with the architect on construction coordination issues between architectural and engineering design, and document related events and circumstances
  • Review contractor applications for payment and forward recommendations to the Project Manager for disposition
  • Assist the client with final observation of the work and obtain required contractor documentation at project completion
  • Attend construction progress meetings as required by the service contract and report proceedings

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree (Science) or Associate Degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent
  • 6 years of experience minimum required, 10 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry OR
  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • 10 years of experience minimum required, 14 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Must be familiar with design processes and interpretation of architectural and engineering design documents
  • Knowledge of design and construction techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans and drawings
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structures
  • Field experience or skilled trades a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to travel 10-30% with occasional overnight stays
