The RoleWe are looking for talented, energetic, and outgoing application engineers to work in a rapidly growing field where you will have the opportunity to deliver state-of-the-art Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) to some of the most exciting electric utilities around the world. You will be involved in designing, building, configuring, testing, and delivering these systems all while working closely with other driven Engineers and with our customers. Specifically, you'll be working on the Outage Management System (OMS) that spans the electric utility's operational and information technology domains; you will be building systems that improve the efficiency of the utility's grid operations and capture information and data in support of their business functions. These systems will expand the utility's Smart Grid capabilities by providing detailed insight into the operations of the electrical grid. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the electrical grid, which will reduce environmental impacts through the conservation of crucial resources. You will be reporting to the Outage Management System (OMS) Manager.Your Impact
  • Develop and execute system build plans accounting for software architecture, information security, and hardware deployment.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their operational needs, provide system training, and configuration to meet their needs.
  • Perform system and acceptance testing with customers.
  • Develop scripts and other middleware solutions to integrate into third-party systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and collaborate with technical experts in various domains.
  • Lead workshops with customers.
  • Travel to customer sites and work directly with customers to successfully deliver, test, and integrate systems.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in applications engineering, software engineering, or computer engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of application engineering work experience.
  • Experience working in or with utilities or in an engineering support role especially in the OMS or ADMS space
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Solid understanding of general computer operations including file systems, file navigation, and system settings.
  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of remote system access.
  • Comfortable working with configuration files and navigating servers.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to identify software defects.
  • Ability to distinguish between configuration issues and development bugs and submit highly detailed defects to the development team.
  • Attention to detail: ability to accurately update and sync configuration across a large number of servers.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues without step-by-step guidance.
  • Ability to translate complex technical problems into clear, customer-friendly explanations.
  • Capable of identifying root causes and communicating solutions without overwhelming the customer and/or leadership with unnecessary technical detail.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into configuration.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, MongoDB preferred.
The salary range for this role is $104,400.00 - $130,500.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
