Job description

As Apple builds deeper and more complex experiences in Home, scalability and reliability become essential to make sure we're building the great experience our users expect! We're looking for remote engineers to participate in both the Thread & Matter standards with a primary focus on reliability and scaling. The current team is fairly geo-diverse and we're excited to bring people in from all over who share the excitement and passion of the connected home, and networking!
Description
In this role, you would be working with our test labs, Apple internal and third party Thread/Matter engineering teams in the standard. You'd be expected to build out and drive key metrics, and show improvements to the size of the network that can be maintained reliable, but also allow for more traffic to flow on the network as well - as new use cases come in that will demand more activity on the network. A small group of people will be solely focused on profiling the network, identifying problems and solutions, implementing them, testing them - rinse repeat.","responsibilities":"Candidates should be very independently driven, and experienced in (ideally) Thread, but at least senior/seasoned Networking application work. Have demonstrated the ability to deeply understand and design reliable networks. Expectations are that they can be given a goal, work with internal and external teams to drive large cross functional efforts, keep them on track, and report on them. Need to be highly technical, and need in field experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of networking experience, in depth knowledge of and experience with C, C++, other languages optional.
Make daily use of AI tools in your day to day development
Must understand packet analysis and wire traces, must also have experience with Wireless protocols.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
