What will you do?

As a Technical Sales Engineer with a focus in Aerospace, you will be responsible for qualifying inbound leads, engaging potential clients, attending trade shows, and advancing early-stage opportunities through the proposal process.  Throughout the sales process you will assist the client-facing team, ensuring all tasks are being completed, help to facilitate client communication and work on building deep relationships with the appropriate key points of contact.

In this role, you may also serve as the initial client-facing contact and work across Sales, Marketing, Advanced Programs, Program Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure opportunities are accurately captured, qualified, and transitioned to the appropriate technical resources for cost/scope/schedule alignment and proposal development.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for inbound leads from trade shows, marketing activities, and website inquiries
  • Conduct discovery calls to qualify client needs and determine technical alignment, and assign qualified leads to Engineering SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) or Advanced Programs as appropriate
  • Maintain active communication to ensure no lapses in client follow-up
  • Follow up with dormant clients, cold call new and relevant contacts as appropriate to drive lead generation with new and existing contacts.
  • Attend industry trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences as a company representative and document, track, and follow up on leads captured during events.
  • Coordinate handoffs to Sales, Engineering, Program Management, Business Development, or Advanced Programs as required to ensure timely delivery of proposals and outstanding related tasks.
  • Support an organization-wide approach to opportunity identification and progression which maintaining accurate  lead/deal status in Hubspot or CRM.
Location

Position is based in San Diego with a hybrid schedule. * Travel required for trade shows and select client engagements.

*The hybrid work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs including but not limited to training, performance, or other operational requirements. Any physical location change may impact future employment.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s degree required and 5+ years combined experience in technical sales and/or engineering
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to translate customer needs into actionable technical next steps
  • Proficiency with HubSpot or comparable CRM platforms
  • Comfortable presenting at trade shows and engaging new clients
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)
  Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering degree strongly preferred
  • Experience working with Aerospace clients or advanced engineering environments
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), photonics, optical systems, or automation systems
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts
Compensation and Benefits

Technical Sales Engineer pay range: $92,608 - $154,347*

*This range represents base pay. In addition, you may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
