Location: Must currently reside in either Atlanta or San Francisco metropolitan areas; relocation is not being considered for this role.

WHERE WE'RE HIRING & WHY

While this is a remote role, we are only hiring candidates currently based in Atlanta, San Francisco or nearby communities. We have regional teams located in these hubs and want to expand our team with a national public relations strategist.

A LITTLE ABOUT YOU

You are a seasoned PR pro with deep roots in multicultural media and can walk in the door with national relationships and outlets we don't have. You have a proven ability to place clients in national media not just local or regional and ready to infuse creativity and fun into Mixte's PR.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Public Relations Strategist, you'll drive big, creative ideas for our clients and execute them with precision. You'll own media relations from strategy through placementbuilding lists, writing pitches, drafting press releases, op-eds, newsletters, and social contentwhile tracking coverage and reporting on what the data means. You'll report to a Director of Communications and collaborate daily with fellow Strategists.

Client Leadership

  • Build trusting, long-term client relationships that drive year-over-year contract renewal
  • Guide clients toward the best PR and digital media approach while making them feel heard
  • Operate with autonomyown your timelines, meet your deadlines, communicate proactively

Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement strategic PR plans tailored to each client's goals and resources
  • Strategize beyond traditional media relations to incorporate untraditional platforms and digital engagement opportunities
  • Build and maintain media relationships at national, regional, and local levels
  • Pitch stories, monitor coverage, track metrics, and report on outcomes regularly
  • Write all content types: press releases, pitches, op-eds, LTEs, blogs, social posts and messaging
  • Talking point creation and media prep and training for clients to prepare them for interviews
  • Press conference ideation and coordination
  • Define and own measurement models; translate analytics into action

Team & Business Growth

  • Collaborate across strategists to ensure initiatives work together toward client goals
  • Cultivate and earn new business for the company including outreach, proposals, and hitting revenue goals shared across the strategist team.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of PR experience, with a heavy emphasis on media relations-agency or in-house
  • Located in Atlanta or San Francisco Bay Area
  • Proven track record earning stories in national and multicultural media for social justice causes
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment experience (agency, political campaign, or newsroom)
  • Experience across health equity, racial justice, or advocacy
  • Strategic thinker who understands how PR builds audiences and drives them to action
  • High emotional intelligence; skilled at anticipating client concerns and building long-term trust
  • Exceptional writerpress releases, op-eds, pitches, social posts, newsletters
  • Strong analytical skills; can read the data and translate it into next steps
  • Experienced in 100% remote environments; Asana, Slack, and Google Workspace fluency required
  • Multilingual, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Vietnamese preferred
