Job description

While this is a remote work role, candidates considered for the role must live in Alabama and have the ability to travel consistently within the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area 30%-50% of the time.  Over time, travel may be required to other areas within Alabama based on expansion strategy.

Summary

As Market Lead, Network Operations, you will be the primary driver of provider engagement and network performance as we launch a new partnership in Birmingham, Alabama. This role develops the strategy and business plan to drive markets to profitability by identifying growth opportunities, strengthening partner performance, and improving medical cost outcomes. This will manage the following key areas of accountability:

  • Managing initial engagement efforts and rollout of new partnership to practice in the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area
  • Executing core operational workflows with partners consistently and effectively
  • Using data and analytics to develop and drive MLR initiatives
  • Deploying processes that drive membership growth with existing partners

This is a foundational role for a new market. The scope of responsibility, including whether the role carries direct reports, will be tailored to the experience level of the successful candidate and the rate and pace of growth in Alabama.

Essential job duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with provider organizations, physicians, and practice staff to drive engagement and behavior change.
  • Establish strong working relationships with health plan partner network operations team to align on provider engagement strategies and communication.

  • Partner with the Belong Health Partner Success team to ensure alignment with joint goals and priorities.
  • Lead in-person and remote touchpoints with providers to review performance, cost management opportunities, and contracting changes.
  • Identify and prioritize provider needs and concerns; develop solutions that improve patient experience and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Leverage data and analytics to improve provider engagement and continuously improve outreach approaches and field deployment.
  • Serve as a key local resource and relationship owners the Birmingham market is established and partnership evolves.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities

  • This role may or may not carry direct supervisory responsibilities as this will be managed on an as-needed basis.

Required professional experience and qualifications

  • Resides in or can travel frequently to the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area.
  • 3+ years of experience in a health plan, provider-side value-based care organization, healthcare consulting, or a related setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage providers and practice staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a multiple provider relationships and partner with external and internal matrix partners
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry, health plan economics, and provider motivations.

Preferred professional experience and qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare and provider contracting.

Education, training, license and certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Psychology required; graduate degree in Business, Public Health, or Health Administration preferred.
  • No licenses and/or certifications are required for this role.
