What is a Remote Collection job?

A Remote Collection job involves contacting individuals or businesses to collect overdue payments, verify account information, and arrange payment solutions—all from a remote location. These roles typically require strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Agents may work via phone, email, or online chat, following company guidelines and legal regulations. Effective time management and the ability to handle sensitive financial information are key to success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Collection position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Remote Collection role, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in accounts receivable or debt collection, usually complemented by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with collection management software (like FICO Debt Manager or similar CRM tools), phone systems, and basic office software is typically required. Exceptional verbal communication, negotiation, and resilience are key soft skills that help you effectively engage with clients and resolve outstanding accounts. These abilities are crucial for meeting collection targets, maintaining positive client relations, and operating efficiently in a remote work environment.

What are some common challenges faced in a Remote Collection role, and how can they be managed?

One common challenge in a Remote Collection role is communicating effectively with individuals who may be stressed or reluctant to discuss payment issues. Working remotely can also make it more difficult to collaborate with team members, requiring strong self-motivation and proactive communication. Many companies provide comprehensive training and regular virtual team meetings to address these challenges, as well as access to digital tools that streamline the collection process. Success in this role often comes from balancing persistence and professionalism, ensuring payments are collected while maintaining positive client relationships.

Job description

Equivity is seeking an experienced Texas Paralegal with at least three years of law firm experience to provide remote litigation and case management support to attorneys across Texas.
This role may involve supporting attorneys in a variety of practice areas, which can include civil litigation, family law, personal injury, probate, estate planning, business law, and other legal matters. If you enjoy working independently, supporting multiple attorneys, and adapting to different types of cases and workflows, this is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term role in a flexible, remote environment while remaining part of a collaborative and professional team
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other case-related materials
  • Prepare and e-file documents in Texas state courts and, where applicable, federal courts
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents, records, and correspondence are properly managed
  • Assist with case development by gathering records, reviewing documents, and preparing case summaries
  • Coordinate service of process and follow up with courts, clients, opposing counsel, experts, and third parties
  • Manage discovery, including document collection, production, organization, and deadline tracking
  • Schedule and coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, client meetings, and other case-related events
  • Maintain case calendars and monitor deadlines to ensure timely filings and completion of attorney tasks
  • Prepare exhibits, witness files, hearing materials, deposition materials, and trial binders
  • Assist attorneys with hearing, mediation, settlement, and trial preparation
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other third parties
  • Adapt to different attorney workflows, practice areas, and case management systems while providing consistent, high-quality support
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Texas law firm
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience supporting civil litigation, family law, personal injury, probate, or similar practice areas
  • Minimum availability of 20 hours/week to start
  • Strong knowledge of Texas court rules and e-filing
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skill
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Experience with legal software like Clio or MyCase a plus
  • Windows-based computer preferred
  • Availability and responsiveness within 1 hour during standard business hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Why You’ll Love Working Here
At Equivity, you are part of a dedicated, internally managed team of legal professionals—not a temporary placement. We provide ongoing work with established attorneys while maintaining the flexibility of remote work. You’ll be supported by an experienced operations team and work in a collaborative, professional environment that values quality and long-term relationships.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid sick time and employee discounts
  • Annual performance bonuses
  • 6-month pay review with potential hourly increase based on performance
  • Reimbursement of certain expenses
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities
  • Supportive and inclusive remote work culture
