Role Overview

As a CBO Coding Senior Specialist, you will resolve complex diagnostic accounts, act as a subject matter expert, and educate team members on account resolution workflows. Your role is critical in ensuring compliant claims are sent to payers, preventing denials, and driving performance improvements across the revenue cycle. You¿ll work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to uphold the highest standards of coding accuracy and efficiency.

What You Will Do

  • Resolve complex diagnostic accounts independently, ensuring accuracy and completeness of coding.
  • Act as a subject matter resource, educating team members on account resolution workflows.
  • Assist supervisors with escalated issues and provide coaching to team members on challenging accounts.
  • Identify areas for performance improvement in workflows, education, and processes.
  • Perform quality validation of information to ensure clean, compliant claims are sent to payers.
  • Support root-cause analysis by recognizing patterns and trends in coding and billing issues.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years coding experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years specialty coding experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of revenue cycle experience in a large healthcare system.
  • Additional specialty coding certification or 10 years coding experience.
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), CPC, or CCS.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.

Preferred:

  • One to two (1-2) years college or additional course work in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences.
