Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Product Specialist who combines deep insurance expertise with a passion for product innovation and client success.


In this client-facing and technical role, youll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and insurance clients to design and configure cutting-edge insurance products on our platform. Youll play a critical role in interpreting underwriting rules, rating algorithms, and product documentationprimarily using Exceland translating them into efficient, compliant, and functional configurations.


Youll be at the forefront of modernizing how insurers bring their products to market, directly influencing our client's ability to launch and adapt their offerings with speed and accuracy.

We are an AI-enabled team and use AI tools to support product configuration, documentation, research, and workflow efficiency. You dont need to be an AI expert, but you should be comfortable using AI tools responsibly and applying sound judgment when reviewing and validating outputs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the configuration and documentation of insurance products using internal tools and Excel-based templates.
  • Participate in the development, review, and refinement of insurance products for clients on the Modular Solutions platform.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to interpret and translate underwriting guidelines, rating rules, and policy documentation into actionable product configurations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to collect all required information for timely and accurate product delivery.
  • Assist in managing and prioritizing product backlog items, ensuring tasks are aligned with delivery goals and client expectations.
  • Apply best practices and internal standards to configure insurance product wording, rating logic, and business rules.
  • Participate in the development, review, and refinement of insurance products for clients on the Modular Solutions platform.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy are maintained throughout the product lifecycle, from initial configuration to final testing and implementation.
  • Actively participate in product testing and validation activities to ensure compliance, usability, and minimal disruptions upon release.
  • Provide insurance expertise and contextual insights to support product setup discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Document configuration decisions and logic clearly to ensure transparency, continuity, and future scalability.
  • Communicate progress and potential blockers proactively to team members and project leads.
  • Learn and use all internal technology systems as defined by Modular Solutions Inc.
  • Other duties as required and requested by Modular Solutions Inc.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Insurance Product Development and/or Actuarial work.
  • Strong Excel skills, including logic, and template-based rule setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply insurance product guidelines.
  • Familiarity with insurance workflows, especially the roles of brokers, underwriters, and risk managers.
  • Experience in underwriting, accounting and/or the insurance product lifecycle is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with insurance software platforms, policy administration systems, or configurable SaaS solutions.
  • Experience documenting configuration logic and managing version control using tools like Confluence, SharePoint, or versioned templates.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience using project collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, Trello, or Asana.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly when working with complex rating logic or insurance documentation.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote team setting.
  • Willingness to track work hours for internal time and billing purposes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, particularly in insurance trends, regulatory changes, or product innovation.
