Job description

Stronger Consulting believes in the power of great leadership to drive positive change. We are dedicated to helping mission-aligned organizations find the right talent and strategies to maximize their impact. We imagine a future in which everyone can access fair and outstanding educational and life opportunities, and we partner with nonprofits, charter school networks, and social-sector organizations to make that vision real. Our work is grounded in core values: Boundless Optimism, Equitable Empowerment, Informed Transparency, Compassionate Connection, and Respect. We approach every engagement with integrity, transparency, and customization, leveraging data and asking the right questions to produce quality insights for our partners. We are a mission-driven search and strategic advisory firm with a strong track record of placing leaders of color and building diverse talent pipelines that connect equity-focused leaders with the organizations that need them most.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Stronger Consulting is seeking a driven and purpose-led Director of Business Development to fuel our next chapter of growth. In this full-cycle sales role, you will build and cultivate relationships with nonprofit and charter school leaders, identify new opportunities, and close enterprise-level consulting engagements. This is not a role for someone waiting to be told what to do. You must be a self-starter who brings their own network, thrives in consultative sales, and is genuinely energized by the mission behind the work.
OTE: $120,000-$150,000 Base Salary: $60,000-$75,000
Location: Remote Department: Business Development
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and outreach to proposal, negotiation, and close, targeting nonprofits and charter networks with $20M+ in revenue.
  • Build and leverage a pre-existing network in the nonprofit/social sector to generate pipeline and open doors to new engagements.
  • Drive consultative, advisory-style sales conversations with senior leaders, understanding client challenges and positioning Stronger Consulting's services as the strategic solution.
  • Develop and execute a multithreading strategy to engage multiple stakeholders within prospect organizations and manage complex, longer-cycle deals.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline activity in the CRM; use AI tools to enhance prospecting, outreach, and research efficiency.
  • Represent Stronger Consulting at sector conferences, convenings, and industry events to elevate brand visibility and cultivate relationships.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on go-to-market strategy, refining messaging and identifying new market opportunities.
  • Provide regular pipeline updates and revenue forecasts to leadership; contribute to business development strategy and planning.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Proven track record in full-cycle, consultative/advisory sales with demonstrated ability to source, develop, and close enterprise-level deals.
  • Direct experience selling into nonprofits and/or public school districts and charter school networks; familiarity with the decision-making dynamics of social-sector organizations.
  • Existing extensive national network within the nonprofit sector that can be activated from day one.
  • Strong relationship-building skills; able to build trust with executive and senior-level stakeholders over long sales cycles.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and AI-enabled sales tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multithreading and managing complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
  • A self-directed, proactive work style; comfortable driving activity without a playbook.
  • Mission alignment: genuine commitment to the work of strengthening nonprofits and social-sector organizations.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience (degree preferred but not required).
  • Experience at a consulting firm or professional services organization.
  • Background in selling services to organizations with $20M+ budgets.
  • Familiarity with the charter school, school district, or K-12 education sector.
  • Comfort attending and networking at national or regional nonprofit sector conferences.

WHY JOIN US?
  • Purpose-driven work: Every deal you close directly strengthens a nonprofit's ability to serve its community. The impact is real and tangible.
  • Ownership & autonomy: This role comes with genuine decision-making authority and room to build; you won't be micromanaged.
  • Competitive compensation: OTE of $120K-$150K with a base of $60K-$75K, rewarding performance meaningfully.
  • Remote flexibility: 100% remote position and must be based in the US, Canada, or Central/South America. You can work from anywhere while staying deeply connected to a collaborative, high-trust team.
  • Growth trajectory: Join during an exciting growth phase and help shape the business development function as the firm scales.
  • Inclusive, equity-centered culture: We are a team that leads with values; collaborative, humble, anti-racist, and mission-first.
