Pharmacy Technician I – Prior Authorization (Remote)


Pay: W2
Schedule: Mon–Fri | 11:00 AM–11:00 PM CST (8.5-hour shift + 30-min lunch)
Training: Mon–Fri | 10:00 AM–6:30 PM CST | ~5 weeks (No time off allowed)
Location: Fully Remote (U.S. based) – West Coast candidates preferred


Job Description

Seeking Pharmacy Technician I (Prior Authorization) professionals to join their remote Caremark team. This role is responsible for providing courteous, accurate, and compliant support to providers, pharmacies, and members through the Prior Authorization review workflow.

Ideal candidates bring strong high-volume call center experience, excellent communication skills, and a background working with healthcare or PBM environments. Candidates must be comfortable working late shifts and must be available for the full training schedule without exceptions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Handle inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, and members regarding Prior Authorization requests.

  • Deliver professional, clear, and courteous support while following criteria-based PA processes.

  • Document reviews accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.

  • Transfer all clinical questions or escalations to the pharmacist team as required.

  • Assist with outbound calls, processing PA requests (fax or ePA), and responding to departmental inbox inquiries.

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and work effectively in a distraction-free home office environment.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of recent high-volume call center experience
    – Must be healthcare, PBM, or Prior Authorization related.
    – This experience must be clearly visible on the candidate’s resume.

  • Active Pharmacy Technician License (no restrictions) OR National Pharmacy Technician Certification (per state requirements).

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and basic medical coding.
