Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Field Technician for the Company's Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  This role will be responsible for field support. The Field Technician will support FAA contracts for FTI, ADSB, DCNS and any other Field Services programs as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical support for each specific program/system (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS and others) L3Harris supports for the FAA.
  • Install, repair, configure, test and complete preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at the customers' remote locations.
  • Able to work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within your assigned area. Occasionally travelling to remote sites outside your assigned area may be needed from time to time to assist with the FAA customer needs and/or requests.
  • Able to read/understand/follow equipment drawings and task orders.
  • Possess good admin skills (taking notes and documenting what transpired while working at the customer location).
  • Work directly with the NOCC, the SAC, and the Helpdesk over the phone on resolving issues in the field.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory and personal or company vehicle.
  • Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
  • Able to work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when/if needed to meet customer's needs.
  • Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
  • Work with your supervisor (ASL) to ensure all L3Harris policies/procedures and program specific policies/procedures are followed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License, and a satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment.
  • This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain an FAA security clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, A+
  • Ability to work from home, in an "on-call" status.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active FAA Security Clearance
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 100% of the time) to remote sites within a 3hour drive circle of base location. Technicians may be asked to travel outside of their assigned region, as needed. 
  • Capable of utilizing ladders, and step stools, to reach heights of approx. 10 feet
  • Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in high stress and visibility environment
  • Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
  • Good working knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC. Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.
  • Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards.
  • Working knowledge and usage of various network test equipment:  JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets.
  • IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches
  • Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $62,500 - $116,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is $54,500 - $101,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
