Job description

Job DescriptionOverview

We are seeking an Intermediate I&C Engineer Energy - Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

Your role
  • Responsible for designs, tests, installs, and maintenance of systems or equipment that monitor, control, and automate industrial processes or machinery.

  • Responsible for the design and analysis of safety and non-safety related I&C systems for nuclear and commercial projects.

  • Regularly interfaces with the other technical disciplines (mechanical, nuclear, operations and electrical engineering teams) for I&C design and consultation.

  • Applies knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.

  • Creates control system designs, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, for nuclear facilities.

  • Performance analysis, identify faults, and resolve issues to ensure optimal plant operation.

  • Ensures all systems meet nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and quality assurance requirements.

  • Develops and executes maintenance, testing, and startup procedures; verify system readiness throughout equipment life.

  • Prepares and maintains technical documentation such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, and qualification test plans.

  • Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines. Will conduct mentoring and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed.

  • Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays.

  • Receives instruction, guidance and direction from more senior engineers and completes duties as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical or engineering field.

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.

  • Experience in nuclear industry preferred.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to complete complex technical work with limited supervision.

  • Higher-level knowledge and application of skills of fundamental principles and concepts related to instrumentation and control and electrical design.

  • Experience supporting Human Factors analysis of plant systems.

  • Familiarity with Cyber Security requirements for nuclear facilities.

  • Familiarity with the commissioning or tuning integrated plant control systems.

  • Practical application of licensing standards and regulatory processes.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in applying industry codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ANSI, ISA, IAEA).

  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
