Position Overview 

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Applied Systems, you will play a strategic role in driving growth by proactively engaging with potential clients. Your primary responsibility will be outbound prospecting through multi-touch outreach (calls, emails, and LinkedIn) to identify and qualify high-potential leads. Working closely with the sales team, you will be a key player in strategic outreach efforts and help generate opportunities that are aligned with the broader sales and growth goals of the organization.

The role requires a proactive, results-driven, and organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping insurance agencies transform their operations with cutting-edge technology solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Execute high-volume, multi-channel outreach strategies to consistently generate and engage net-new prospects.
  • Identify, target, and create qualified opportunities through proactive outbound prospecting aligned to ICP and strategic segments.
  • Qualify opportunities through early funnel stages, ensuring alignment to criteria and readiness for deeper discovery or demo.
  • Apply structured, multi-touch outreach cadences across channels and continuously refine based on engagement data and outcomes.
  • Personalize outreach using account context, industry insights, and prior engagement signals to improve response and conversion rates.
  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM documentation, ensuring visibility into pipeline, activities, and progression.
  • Collaborate closely with sales to ensure smooth handoff, clear context, and strong conversion from BD-sourced opportunities.
  • Track performance against activity and pipeline KPIs, proactively adjusting approach to meet monthly targets.
  • Synthesize prospect feedback to refine messaging, targeting, and outreach strategies.

We're Excited to Learn More About You 

  • Minimum 1 year outbound sales development or business development experience, preferably in B2B or SaaS sales, with proven track record of generating qualified opportunities.
  • Minimum 1 year cold calling, email outreach, and LinkedIn prospecting.
  • Experience working in a strategic sales development role, collaborating closely with Sales teams to drive pipeline growth.
  • ssociate's Degree (AA) required. Focus in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Professional Sales, Business, or related discipline preferred.

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to craft tailored, compelling outreach messages.
  • Strong phone presence and the ability to confidently engage with decision-makers.
  • Experience using CRM systems to track and manage leads, interactions, and sales activities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple outbound campaigns and follow-up activities at once.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Highly motivated, driven, and goal-oriented with a strong desire to meet and exceed performance targets.
  • Resilient and able to handle rejection while remaining focused and persistent in outreach efforts.
  • Knowledge of industry: Familiarity with our industry and market (insurance, SaaS, technology, etc.) is a plus but not required.
  • Comfortable with sales and marketing tools such as live chat.
  • Comfortable using a variety of digital tools, including email, chat, video conferencing, and collaboration platforms.
  • Familiarity with online research tools to better understand prospect needs and backgrounds is a plus.
  • Familiarity with inbound sales methodologies or Lead Qualification frameworks is preferred.

  • Qualified leads are generated and passed to sales based on agreed-upon criteria, ensuring consistent lead quality and volume.
  • Sales pipeline is actively supported through outreach-qualified leads that progress through defined funnel stages.
  • Prospects are engaged and nurtured through timely, relevant, and personalized outreach sequences, resulting in increased meeting conversion rates and brand awareness.
  • Sales team is supported through regular collaboration, including sharing of insights, feedback loops, and alignment meetings, resulting in improved lead-to-opportunity conversion.
  • Strategic outreach campaigns are executed according to plan, targeting high-value accounts and personas, with measurable results in engagement and booked meetings.
  • CRM records are consistently updated with accurate, complete, and timely information regarding outreach and engagement activities.

Our targeted starting total cash compensation in the United States for this position ranges from $47,500 - $55,000. per year. This range includes base salary and on-target performance-based variable commissions. Actual earnings are uncapped, and many team members exceed on-target amounts by surpassing their sales goals. To determine a new team member's starting pay, we consider a variety of factors, including depth, breadth, and variety of experience, skills, and responsibilities.
