Your work schedule will follow a regular week from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their unique mental health needs and formulate effective treatment plans.
• Provide individualized and group counseling sessions to address emotional challenges stemming from aging, loss, and life transitions.
• Work closely with healthcare teams, including physicians and social workers, to develop and implement person-centered care plans that improve the quality of life for geriatric patients.
• Offer staff education sessions for caregivers and family members to enhance their understanding of emotional support strategies for older adults.
• Facilitate grief and loss therapy sessions for residents and families dealing with end-of-life concerns, helping them navigate their emotional landscapes with compassion.
• Implement cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions aimed at maintaining cognitive acuity and emotional resilience in the elderly population.

This position primarily focuses on counseling seniors coping with various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustment disorders. You will be engaging with a diverse population of elderly persons, each with distinct backgrounds and experiences. Cultural sensitivity and empathy will be essential in fostering meaningful connections and providing tailored support to promote their emotional well-being.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid License as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Demonstrated understanding of age-related mental health issues and evidence-based treatment interventions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with elderly clients and their families.
