Job description

Job Title: Audio & Visual Streaming Specialist
Job Summary:
The Audio and Visual Streaming Specialist is responsible for the seamless execution of live-streamed and recorded public school district meetings. This role ensures high-quality audio, video, and digital accessibility for public engagement while troubleshooting technical issues in real time. The ideal candidate possesses technical proficiency, adaptability, and strong communication skills to effectively manage the digital presence of school board meetings. Position days and hours will fluctuate each month to include some early mornings and evenings. The hourly wage for the position is $21.57 for approximately 10-20 hours per month. 


Essential Functions:

Pre-Meeting Preparation (20%)

  • Optimize lighting conditions for clear and professional video quality.
    Configure and enable projectors, TVs, and other display systems.
  • Establish and manage appropriate audio setups, including microphone placement and sound reinforcement.
  • Set up, test, and maintain microphones for speakers and board members.
  • Ensure functionality of all broadcasting equipment, including routine system reboots and diagnostics.
  • Verify stream keys, create thumbnails, and ensure proper stream settings.


Live Streaming & Monitoring (60%)

  • Initiate and monitor live streams, ensuring stable transmission throughout the meeting.
  • Actively control and adjust camera angles and zoom for optimal coverage.
  • Monitor and adjust sound levels in real time for clear, balanced audio.
  • Ensure meetings are both streamed and recorded for archiving and public access.
  • Remotely manage presentation computers for seamless transitions and content display.
  • Facilitate virtual meeting components, including invitations and remote participation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues swiftly to minimize disruptions.


Post-Meeting & Continuous Improvement (20%)

  • Communicate effectively with board members, the executive administrative assistant, and the superintendent.
  • Provide recommendations for technological enhancements and space improvements.
  • Develop/coordinate strategies to increase audience engagement and promote live streams.


Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in VNC (remote desktop management).
  • Experience with YouTube Studio for live streaming.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Workspace tools (Docs, Slides, Meet, Drive, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and sound engineering principles.
  • Ability to operate video switchers and other broadcasting equipment.
  • Analytical mindset with an inquisitive approach to troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of privacy considerations in a public-facing streaming environment.
  • Adaptability and ability to remain composed under pressure.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in live broadcasting, media production, or AV technology.
  • Knowledge of networking and streaming protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
