How much do remote artist figure model jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 4, 2026, the average hourly pay for remote artist figure model in the United States is $30.24, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $21.63 and $37.02 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are remote artist figure models?

Remote artist figure models are individuals who pose for artists, illustrators, or art classes via online platforms rather than in person. They help artists study the human form, movement, and anatomy by providing live reference through video calls or by sharing high-quality photos. This role allows for flexibility in location and scheduling, making figure modeling accessible to a wider range of models and artists. Remote sessions may involve clothed or nude poses, depending on the requirements and agreements between the model and the artist or institution.

How to get a job as a figure model?

To become a remote artist figure model, you should build a portfolio showcasing your physique and pose stability, then reach out to art schools, online modeling platforms, or local art groups that hire models for life drawing sessions. Consistent availability, professionalism, and good communication are important, and some models also complete training or certification in posing or anatomy. Many opportunities are found through online platforms or local art communities that connect models with artists and instructors.

Will AI replace illustrators?

AI technology can assist illustrators by generating ideas or automating repetitive tasks, but it is unlikely to fully replace human illustrators, especially in creative and nuanced work. Skilled artists bring unique style, interpretation, and emotional depth that AI cannot replicate entirely. Many illustrators use digital tools and AI as part of their workflow to enhance productivity and creativity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Artist Figure Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Artist Figure Model, you need body awareness, the ability to hold poses for extended periods, and a professional attitude, often with previous modeling or art class experience preferred. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms, high-quality cameras, and proper lighting setups is typically required. Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills help models work effectively with artists and instructors remotely. These skills ensure productive sessions, clear artistic references, and a positive working relationship essential for both live and virtual figure drawing environments.

How much do figure drawing models get paid?

Remote artist figure models typically earn between $15 and $50 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the setting. Pay rates can vary based on the complexity of the poses, session length, and whether the work is paid per session or hourly.

Both roles require the ability to hold poses and communicate effectively with artists remotely, making them similar but tailored to different artistic settings.

What does a typical remote session look like for an artist figure model, and how do models and artists collaborate virtually?

In a remote artist figure model session, you'll typically pose in a well-lit space using a webcam or digital camera, following specific instructions from artists or facilitators via a video platform. Communication is key, as you'll need to adjust poses and timing based on live feedback from participants. Sessions can vary in length, often involving multiple short and long poses. You'll collaborate closely with the session organizer and sometimes with other models, ensuring clear visibility and maintaining professionalism throughout. This setup allows for creative flexibility but also requires strong self-management and reliable technology.

How can I make $2000 a week working from home?

A remote artist figure model can potentially earn $2000 a week by booking multiple sessions, setting competitive rates, and building a strong portfolio to attract regular clients.
