POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pennsylvania State University, College of Health and Human Development, Department, of Human Development and Family Studies is seeking candidates for an Assistant Research Professor. The successful candidate should have expertise in the area of behavioral neuroscience, a focus on development is preferred.The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in EEG research (experience with collecting, processing, analyzing, and publishing neuroscience data with EEG).

Responsibilities

Primary job responsibilities of this position include: (include teaching/research/service/administrative duties)

  • Provide instrumental support to ongoing research using EEG assessments to examine treatment responsiveness among children diagnosed with ADHD. Support will include verifying the accuracy of the equipment and experimental setup, facilitating a pipeline for data transfer and storage from the medical school to the University Park campus, assisting in the development of the data processing pipeline, supervising graduate student and research assistant tasks.
  • Lead and contribute to the publication of empirical research using archival and newly collected EEG data.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of grant applications for external funding.
  • Opportunities for teaching and mentoring within the Social Behavioral Neuroscience doctoral dual-title program.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D., or terminal degree at the time of hire. A degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or closely related field is preferred/required. Demonstrated experience in research management and scientific publication is essential. Competencies critical to success include the ability to work with minimal supervision, effective verbal and communication skills needed to coordinate across and within a large collaborative research environment.
