Job description

Accounting Manager | Client Accounting Services
Firm Located In Houston | 100% Remote Opportunity
Full-time | Growth-focused CPA / advisory firm

Are you the kind of accounting leader who loves bringing order to chaos, helping people grow, and making sure the work actually gets done?

We are partnering with a growing CPA and advisory firm seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the client accounting side of the business.

This person will serve as the operational backbone of the bookkeeping and accounting function, helping to manage workflow, support the team, resolve process breakdowns, and create greater consistency in a high-volume client environment.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and hands-on accounting support. It is especially well-suited for someone who has worked in outsourced accounting, CAS, or public accounting and understands the moving parts of serving multiple clients at once.

Why this role stands out

This is not just another accounting manager seat where you inherit a team and keep the trains moving.

This is an opportunity to step into a firm that is growing, investing in systems, and serious about building something better. The owner knows where the pressure points are, is open to change, and wants a strong leader in place who can help stabilize operations, support the team, and create more capacity for growth.

If you love teaching, improving workflows, spotting what is falling through the cracks, and helping a team level up, this role has a lot to offer.

What youโ€™ll be doing
  • Oversee workflow for the client accounting and bookkeeping team

  • Help ensure weekly, monthly, and recurring client tasks are completed on time

  • Support staff with questions, cleanup issues, and process roadblocks

  • Coach, mentor, and develop accounting team members

  • Monitor progress across accounts and step in when work is stalled or at risk

  • Help improve systems, processes, and accountability across the function

  • Assist with onboarding, transitions, and issue resolution as needed

  • Partner closely with firm leadership to create more structure, visibility, and scalability

What weโ€™re looking for
  • At least four (4) years of relevent experience in public accounting, CAS, outsourced accounting, or a multi-client accounting environment

  • Strong bookkeeping and month-end close experience

  • Prior leadership, mentoring, or team oversight experience

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • QBO experience a must

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting or related field preferred

  • CPA or EA is a plus, but not required

  • For remote candidates, proven success working and leading in a remote setting is required

The kind of person who will thrive here
  • You like structure, but you are not rigid

  • You know how to lead with both clarity and grace

  • You enjoy helping people get unstuck

  • You can zoom in on details without losing sight of the bigger picture

  • You are comfortable in a growing firm where not everything is perfect yet, but the vision is strong

  • You want to make a real impact, not just manage a checklist

Compensation

Competitive base salary in the $100-125K range DOE, with incentive comp built around specific client and personal deliverables.
