Position Summary

Revolutional is seeking a Technical Lead / Chief Security Architect-Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority for enterprise security architecture supporting an anticipated Veteran Affairs (VA) Program in a large-scale health IT environment. This role bridges legacy systems and next-generation technology — cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, post-quantum cryptography, and AI — translating mission and customer requirements into secure, resilient architecture that a large program can build against. The ideal candidate has led security architecture at the scale and complexity of a major federal agency and is equally comfortable in a design review, a risk-management working session, or a whiteboard session with engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for enterprise security architecture across legacy and emerging health IT systems.
  • Lead security architecture and engineering efforts, translating customer and mission requirements into actionable technical direction for the project team.
  • Advance the development of legacy and new health IT digital architectures spanning cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), cryptography, quantum computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
  • Lead enterprise risk management activities across the security architecture lifecycle.
  • Apply Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools and guide architecture processes and products (e.g., SABSA) to support consistent, repeatable architecture practice.
  • Perform analysis and research on complex technical problems and processes relevant to enterprise security architecture.
  • Coordinate with program and project leadership to analyze system architectures during design reviews and throughout the conceptual design lifecycle.
  • Identify strategies for addressing requirements, risks, and issues; conduct detailed trade-off analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance constraints.
  • Create architecture diagrams and documentation covering all components that comprise IT systems, including network topology.
  • Ensure architecture and engineering practice aligns with federal security frameworks and policy, including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls, and HIPAA.
  • Provide project management oversight for security architecture initiatives, including scope, schedule, and resource coordination.

Required Qualifications — Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of Enterprise Security Architecture / Information Security experience at a large company or government agency comparable in size and scope to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.
    • An additional advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in an IT-related field may substitute for up to 5 years of the required experience. [
  • Expertise in project management, security architecture, and security engineering, with the ability to translate customer requirements and relay them to the team.
  • Expertise and ability to advance the development of legacy and new health IT digital architectures, including cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, PQC, DLP, cryptography, quantum computing, and AI technologies.
  • Expertise in risk management.
  • Expertise using Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools.
  • Expertise guiding architecture tool processes and products (e.g., SABSA).
  • Expertise performing analysis and research of complex problems and processes relating to the subject matter.
  • Expertise coordinating with program and project leaders to analyze system architectures during design reviews and throughout the conceptual design lifecycle.
  • Expertise identifying strategies for addressing requirements, risks, and issues, and conducting detailed trade-off analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance constraints.
  • Expertise creating diagrams and documentation covering all components that comprise IT systems, including network topology.
  • Expertise in security frameworks and federal policies, processes, and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls, HIPAA).

Required Qualifications — Education

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, or Network Systems Communications Management.

Required Certifications

  • Certification in one or more of the following: PMP, IAT Level III, IAM Level III, or IASAE Level III.

Preferred Qualifications (suggested — not part of your original spec; edit freely)
