Company Summary

South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is a not-for-profit electric distribution, member-owned cooperative. The cooperative is a leader in distribution technology and is headquartered in a new and progressive facility in Martinsville, Indiana. SCI REMC serves seven counties including Morgan, Monroe, Owen, Brown, Johnson, Putnam and Clay with over 3,650 miles of energized lines and 35,500+ electric members and about 12,500 fiber subscribers. In addition to the core businesses of electric and fiber, SCI employs vegetation management personnel to provide exemplary services to support reliability and member satisfaction.

Position Summary


The Network Services Technician supports the Fiber team by helping deliver reliable data, voice, video, and network services to members and subscribers. This customer facing role is responsible for taking customer calls, troubleshooting service issues, provisioning network services, monitoring network performance, maintaining technical documentation, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure efficient operations and a positive member/subscriber experience.

Qualifications

Education-- High school diploma or equivalent and professional certification such as CompTia Net + or equivalent; CCNA is preferred. Associates degree in a related technical field (e.g. Electronic Engineering or equivalent) also preferred.

Experience--Minimum of three years experience related to Ethernet and Internet service delivery including installation, provisioning, implementation, and troubleshooting. Proficient knowledge of operation and maintenance of FTTx technology, Layer two and routing fundamentals with demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting efforts. Must also have meaningful experience delivering excellent customer service in a customer facing role. Candidates whose customer service experience included troubleshooting in a technical capacity are preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in customer service or similar direct, customer facing role working with customers or end users to resolve service issues in a clear and professional manner.
  • Experience with service provisioning, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and supporting voice/data/video services.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools, performance analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to fiber networks, WiFi support, field coordination, or installation support would be especially helpful.
  • Experience responding to service outages, escalations, or emergency support situations is a plus.
  • Digital competencedemonstrated knowledge of common office software and the ability to learn and master others.
  • We have two open shifts one 7 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the second 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., each with a one hour unpaid lunch. Shifts start and end times are subject to change, if needed due to business needs.
  • Must be regular in work attendance.
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
