Job Summary:
The Project Accountant is responsible for executing project finance and accounting activities to support delivery of a significant EPC project by ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with contract requirements and company policies. The role partners closely with the Finance & Accounting Manager, Project Controls, and cross-functional teams to provide timely, reliable financial data to support project decision-making and successful project outcomes.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Execute and lead project accounting activities, including cost tracking, general ledger, and sub-job financial management to ensure accuracy and data integrity
  • Support monthly close, forecasting, and financial reporting including any required variance analysis
  • Manage and review client and intercompany invoices to ensure compliance with contract terms and supporting documentation requirements
  • Review and process vendor and subcontractor invoices to ensure proper cost coding and alignment with project budgets and commitments
  • Monitor, review and reconcile key accounts (e.g., accruals, receivables, unbilled costs) and resolve variances in a timely manner
  • Partner with Project Controls, Procurement, and Operations to support cost reporting, trends, and identify financial risks
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and approval authorities; support audit activities and maintain strong documentation
  • Support project setup and close-out activities, including financial system configuration, reconciliations, and any required account settlements
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of project accounting, including job cost, commitments, and subjob structures
  • Understanding of month-end close, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Experience with billing and unbilled cost tracking
  • Familiarity with accounts payable and P2P processes
  • Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and cross-functional coordination
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Sound judgment and understanding of controls/compliance
