Job description

Electrical Project Manager

Type: Direct Hire

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Salary: $130K–$155K DOE

About the Role

This Electrical Project Manager role carries full budget, schedule, and client accountability on commercial and industrial electrical construction projects across the greater Los Angeles market.

The employer is a long-established Southern California commercial and industrial electrical contractor. The firm self-performs across healthcare and biotech, higher education, mission critical and data center, transportation infrastructure, manufacturing, and public and government work. In-house capability includes design-build and design-assist preconstruction, a full-scale prefabrication shop, Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination, and a UL-certified control panel shop.

The Project Manager owns assigned projects from award through closeout, reporting to the Vice President of Construction and working under the day-to-day direction of a Senior Project Manager. This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who already carries job cost responsibility. Candidates should be comfortable identifying, pricing, and negotiating change orders directly rather than routing that work to an estimating group.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Management

•     Develop and maintain project budgets and hold full financial responsibility for assigned work

•     Manage the project review process with emphasis on financial forecasting and margin protection

•     Identify change order opportunities from field conditions, drawing revisions, and RFI responses, then price, negotiate, and execute them

•     Oversee invoicing in accordance with project terms and track job cost against budget

Project Execution and Schedule

•     Manage assigned electrical construction projects from start-up through closeout

•     Build and maintain project schedules and monitor progress against milestones

•     Review contractual requirements and process design methodology for each project

•     Coordinate subcontract execution and administration, and manage procurement and material releases

Client and Field Coordination

•     Serve as the Electrical Project Manager of record on assigned work and the primary point of contact for general contractors, owners, architects, and engineers

•     Coordinate with field leadership and project staff to determine resource and manpower requirements

•     Support jobsite safety requirements and participate in project safety planning

Documentation and Compliance

•     Maintain accurate and timely project documentation including requests for information (RFIs), submittals, time records, and project correspondence

•     Confirm compliance with California Electrical Code, Title 24, and applicable inspection requirements

Qualifications

Required

•     Minimum five years of progressive experience as an Electrical Project Manager, or in a comparable project management role with an electrical contractor, in the commercial and industrial sector

•     Bachelor’s degree in construction management, electrical engineering, or a related field, or completion of an electrical trade apprenticeship with equivalent field experience

•     Proficiency estimating and performing takeoffs in a dedicated electrical estimating platform — Accubid and Live Count, or comparable software such as McCormick, ConEst, or Trimble

•     Proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel

•     Working knowledge of construction financial and job cost accounting practices

•     Demonstrated ability to lead a project team and manage subcontractor performance

•     Ability to travel to project sites throughout Southern California as needed

Preferred

•     Procore or comparable construction project management platform

•     Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30 certification

•     Design-build and design-assist project delivery experience

•     Medium- and high-voltage distribution, generators, transfer switches, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems

•     Healthcare, higher education, mission critical, or transportation infrastructure project experience

•     Prefabrication planning and BIM coordination using Navisworks, Revit, or BIM 360

Compensation & Employment

Employment Type: The selected candidate will be hired as a full-time employee directly with our client.

Salary: $130K–$155K DOE

Work Model: Onsite, office-based in Los Alamitos, CA.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
