Job description

Industrial Industrial Construction Project Manager

This is a hands-on role for a PM who can step in quickly and contribute immediately, with experience in fast-paced industrial environments such as food & beverage and pharmaceutical facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all phases of industrial construction and maintenance projects, from planning through closeout

  • Oversee both small plant maintenance work and large capital improvement projects

  • Develop detailed project plans including scope, schedule, budget, manpower, and resources

  • Coordinate directly with field teams, self-perform crews, subcontractors, engineers, and plant personnel

  • Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and industrial operating procedures

  • Manage project schedules and proactively resolve issues to avoid downtime or production disruption

  • Track project costs, control budgets, and ensure financial performance targets are met

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure execution aligns with scope and operational requirements

  • Lead project meetings with clients, operations teams, and internal stakeholders

  • Manage procurement, subcontractor coordination, and vendor relationships where applicable

  • Prepare and deliver project status updates and performance reports

  • Implement risk mitigation strategies for active industrial environments

  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and project closeout procedures

  • Perform other duties as required in a self-perform industrial contractor environment

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in industrial construction environments

  • Strong background in self-perform construction and maintenance operations (preferred)

  • Proven experience working in industrial facilities such as food & beverage, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial plants

  • Ability to manage both maintenance work and capital projects simultaneously

  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and industrial safety practices

  • Ability to quickly integrate into operations and contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up time

  • Strong leadership and field coordination skills in multi-craft environments

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

  • Strong budgeting, scheduling, and cost control experience

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and technical documents

  • Strong problem-solving skills in active industrial/operational environments

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure project settings

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required

Additional Notes
  • This role is focused on industrial, self-perform project delivery (not traditional commercial general contracting)

  • Candidates from non-industrial backgrounds may require significant ramp-up time and are typically not a fit for this role

  • Relocation is generally not preferred; priority is given to candidates with relevant local or commutable experience
