At Benesch, we are looking for candidates with varied backgrounds and worldviews. We are committed to offering an inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Highway Project Manager
Benesch is seeking to hire a Highway Project Manager to support our growing transportation team. This is a strong opportunity to play a key role in advancing the Connecticut Division's growth while delivering impactful transportation projects across the region. In this role, you will step into a first-level leadership position, leading project delivery, mentoring staff, and building client relationships across Connecticut and the Northeast. You will own project delivery end-to-end, navigate competing priorities, and drive results across multidisciplinary teams.
You will work on high-visibility transportation projects that support regional mobility, access, and economic development in partnership with municipalities and local agencies. This includes leading small to mid-sized highway and local roadway projects, as well as owning key scopes within larger, multi-disciplinary transportation efforts.
Successful, impactful projects in various states of design include the Route 15 Interchange 52 Ramp Reconfiguration in Hamden/North Haven, 4+ miles of Route 85 reconstruction in Salem/Montville, and the addition of Auxiliary Lanes along I-95 Northbound and Southbound between Interchanges 42 and 43 in West Haven.
Location
This role follows a hybrid schedule and is based out of our Glastonbury, CT office.
The Impact You Will Have
  • Lead and deliver small to mid-sized highway and local roadway projects, or serve as a task lead on larger, multi-disciplinary transportation efforts
  • Own project scope, budget, and schedule, including developing proposals and managing financial performance
  • Coordinate engineers and designers while aligning resources to keep projects moving forward efficiently
  • Serve as the primary client contact, building strong relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes
  • Partner with leadership on project strategy, performance, and overall delivery
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals and interviews
  • Mentor and develop engineers, EITs, and designers through hands-on project work
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • PE license in Connecticut with 8 to 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in project management or task leadership on highway or local roadway projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage teams and projects effectively
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, budgets, and schedules while delivering high-quality results
  • Ability to work independently and produce complete, reviewable deliverables
  • Experience developing proposals, presentations, and supporting project pursuits
  • Experience working with ConnDOT and local agencies, with established relationships preferred
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods
  • Proficiency in Bentley tools such as MicroStation or OpenRoads
  • Master's degree in engineering or business is a plus, but not required #LI-M1
