As the Inventory Technical Accounting Manager, you will play a key role by providing US GAAP technical accounting support to legal entities world-wide for complex accounting topics primarily related to inventory accounting. You will have the opportunity to partner with senior leaders on complex accounting and financial reporting matters. This role will encourage you to demonstrate and develop your leadership skills, utilizing excellent communication, presentation, and technical accounting abilities while serving as a key liaison with business units, finance teams and external auditors.
What You Will Do:
  • Demonstrate a strong, commanding knowledge of US GAAP inventory accounting principles and disclosure requirements.
  • Have the ability as an expert to understand complex business transactions and technical accounting issues across a broad range of inventory accounting topics. Demonstrates strong technical and analytical thinking.
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adapt as new accounting matters are identified.
  • Be highly motivated to work independently to research complex technical accounting topics, reach and document conclusions.
  • Collaborate with other Technical Accounting Managers within the company on inventory matters related to acquisitions, divestitures and restructuring projects.
  • Lead and/or direct teams within or outside of the technical accounting discipline. Collaborate with different functional areas, provide guidance to accounting and business partners and explain how accounting conclusions impact business results.
  • Develop and provide US GAAP training to the accounting organization.

What You Will Have:
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to apply GAAP appropriately within the organization.
  • Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Top Candidates Will Have:
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or International equivalent.
  • Solid practical experience involving US GAAP technical accounting.
  • 10 or more years of progressively responsible job-related experience including exposure to inventory accounting.
  • CPA, CMA or any accounting & finance related certification.

Summary Pay Range:
$172,630.00 - $258,950.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
