Job description

Job Title: Regulatory Affairs Technician (Food Labeling)

Position Overview:

We are currently hiring a detail-oriented Regulatory Affairs Technician – Food Labeling with three + years of experience to join our Regulatory Affairs team. This role is responsible for reviewing, developing, and maintaining compliant product labels, specifications, and regulatory documentation for private label, branded, and bulk food products across the U.S. and Canada.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of food labeling regulations, product specifications, and commercialization processes, who can effectively support cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and develop product labels to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and customer-specific requirements
  • Create and verify ingredient statements, Nutrition Facts Panels, and allergen declarations across a variety of food products (e.g., candy, snacks, specialty foods)
  • Develop and maintain technical product specifications, including internal specs and customer-facing specifications through external portals (e.g., Oracle or similar systems)
  • Submit and manage product data for commercialization, ensuring accuracy and completeness across systems
  • Evaluate and support product claims (e.g. kosher, non-GMO, RSPO, Fair Trade)
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Sales, QA, and the Art team throughout the label creation and approval process
  • Review and proof packaging artwork prior to print to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain organized regulatory documentation, project folders, and customer records
  • Compile and manage raw material and finished product specifications in alignment with internal policies and customer requirements
  • Monitor and interpret U.S. and Canadian labeling regulations, communicating updates to internal teams
  • Manage supplier compliance documentation and support customer requests (e.g., allergen forms, spec sheets, COO documentation)
  • Support Regulatory Affairs and Operations with cross-functional projects and assignments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food industry regulatory affairs, labeling.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA labeling regulations (21 CFR); familiarity with CFIA requirements is a plus
  • Familiarity with QMS systems, SOPs, and controlled documentation

Systems & Software:

  • ESHA Genesis R&D / Trustwell (or similar nutrition analysis software)
  • Microsoft Excel & Word
  • SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or similar collaboration tools
