The Wooten Company's Raleigh, NC headquarters is seeking a team-focused, innovative Electrical Engineer with strong technical experience and leadership potential to join our Building Systems Group.
Who are you? The ideal candidate possesses the ability to provide design, team leadership and certification of contract documents. This position is responsible for the total management of assigned electrical project aspects including quality, client interface and profitability.
What will you be doing? Candidates can expect to work on innovative projects and utilize sustainable design practices. The person in this role can make a significant impact in their local community by supporting our clients as they carry out their mission and their business. With a diverse offering of project types, this person can expect to work on projects such as educational facilities (such as K-12 and higher education), water treatment plant design, and standby power systems. For the right person with a desire to grow professionally, this role is a perfect opportunity for professional development. Field work is required, with the ability to directly influence our company growth objectives by leveraging client facing interactions and creating business development opportunities for the Building Systems Group. The ideal candidate will be expected to grow into a management and ownership role and will be supported internally on such a growth track.
Who will you be working with? The Electrical Engineer will be working as a part of the Building Systems Group and interfacing closely with all departments. Clients include both internal architects and engineers, and external architectural clients and project owners. Our clientele is varied and includes universities, school systems, private owners, and information technology manufacturers.
Where will you be working? While The Wooten Company has offices located in Winston-Salem, Greenville, Hickory, NC and Columbia, SC, downtown Raleigh is the home of our HQ and where this position will be preferably located. Conveniently nestled in the Glenwood South District, the local area is filled with restaurants and nightlife, unique shops, art galleries and studios, all built in what was once a row of warehouse buildings. The Wooten Company is also open to working with the right candidate if they would prefer to be located on a permanent basis near one of our field offices and work from there, with initial training to be done at our Raleigh HQ.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Project management - managing production staff, client contact, scheduling, budgeting (internal and for projects)
  • Electrical distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems design
  • Working on a project team with other professionals and directing design staff
  • Working with regional offices in NC and SC
  • Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Electrical Engineering is required
  • A history of project design experience in the Engineering and Architectural industry
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience with a PE.
  • PE registration in NC preferred, but not required
  • USGBC LEED certification / sustainable design experience a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Growth and leadership mindset - expectation is that the successful candidate will grow into a managerial role as a part of succession plan; desire for internal promotion opportunity
  • Standby power, mission critical design
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Data network and communication system design
  • SCADA specification and design
  • Designing building systems for commercial, institutional, governmental, healthcare facilities, and / or water and wastewater infrastructure
  • AutoCAD / MicroStation / Revit (CAD3D) / BIM experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable in NEC, IBC, NFPA and building codes and editing technical specifications required
  • Instrumentation and control design experience preferred
