Barry-Wehmiller is a diversified global supplier of engineering consulting and manufacturing technology for the packaging, corrugating, sheeting and paper-converting industries. By blending people-centric leadership with disciplined operational strategies and purpose-driven growth, Barry-Wehmiller has become a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.

Job Description:

The Global Business Development Manager, Stainless Steel (SS) is the dedicated commercial owner of CARR's SS centrifuge product line globally. SS systems are large-scale, high-value capital equipment used primarily in vaccine manufacturing, where CARR's low-shear centrifugal separation technology delivers a proven performance advantage. This role is responsible for building and managing a global SS sales pipeline: identifying target accounts, executing business development outreach, advancing opportunities through long sales cycles, and closing deals. The addressable market for SS is highly specialized. Success requires a disciplined, targeted approach to account identification, deep understanding of customer capital planning timelines, and the ability to scope new application opportunities beyond vaccines.

This position reports to the VP of Product and Commercial Strategy as part of the Sales team. An APAC-based partner on the team supports distributor engagement and deal closure in the APAC region, but this role holds global functional responsibility for SS sales.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Own the global SS sales number. Build, manage, and report on a qualified pipeline with visibility into future quarters and years, reflecting the long lead times inherent to large capital equipment purchases.

  • Identify and prioritize target accounts globally, with an emphasis on vaccine manufacturers and adjacent markets where CARR's SS value proposition creates meaningful customer advantage.

  • Execute full-cycle business development: prospecting, outreach, qualification, technical discovery, proposal development, negotiation, and close.

  • Develop account-level intelligence on customer expansion plans, capital budgets, and procurement timelines to align CARR's pipeline with customer decision cycles.

  • Scope new SS application opportunities beyond core vaccine markets to expand the addressable market over time.

  • Coordinate with the APAC sales partner and regional distributors to support pipeline development and deal closure in APAC.

  • Partner with Innovation, Applications Engineering, and Product teams on technical solution design, competitive positioning, and product roadmap input.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records and deliver regular pipeline reviews with clear forecasting to commercial leadership.

  • Represent CARR at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer sites as needed.

  • Collaborate with Marketing on SS-specific content, campaigns, and market intelligence.

  • Complete onboarding and knowledge transfer with the current SS team within the first 9 months.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of direct B2B sales or business development experience selling capital equipment or engineered systems into bioprocessing, pharmaceutical, or life science manufacturing environments.

  • Demonstrated track record of building pipeline and closing large, complex capital deals with long sales cycles (6-18+ months).

  • Strong understanding of biomanufacturing processes, particularly in vaccine production or related upstream/downstream operations.

  • Ability to engage credibly with process engineers, manufacturing leaders, and procurement teams at target accounts.

  • Experience managing a global or multi-region territory.

  • Strong CRM discipline and pipeline management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel globally, estimated minimum of 30-50%.

  • Direct experience with centrifugal separation, filtration, or other downstream bioprocessing equipment.

  • Existing relationships within the global vaccine manufacturing community.

  • Experience selling into regulated GMP environments.

Work Environment:

This is a remote position based in the USA or Europe. The team member will work primarily from a home office with regular travel to customer sites, CARR facilities (Clearwater, FL), industry events, and distributor locations globally. When visiting CARR manufacturing facilities, the team member must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
