Job Description:
Mission
Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an experienced individual for the position of Asphalt Paver Screed Operator based out of our Savannah, GA location. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Asphalt Paver Screed Operator's primary function is to adjust the screed height on the paving machine to ensure proper depth, grade and finish. The Asphalt Paver Screed Operator is also responsible for ensuring the consistency of the asphalt mat and the overall ride quality of the finished pavement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Needs to have the ability to correctly set up paver screed, lay a uniform thickness.
  • An accurate and working knowledge of the paver screed (ex. correct speed, check on material coming out of truck, straight lines)
  • The ability to take a leadership role on the crew
  • The willingness and ability to keep paver and screed maintained and clean
  • The willingness to work nights and weekends
  • The ability to operate equipment in a safe and consistent manner

Qualifications, Education, and Competencies
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
REASONING ABILITY:

The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
