The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a junior-level software engineer to assist in the development of a sensor fusion application as part of a small team. This application collects data from a wide variety of hardware sources and presents it to data analysts and operators in meaningful ways. You’ll work on a variety of tasks, including:

• Developing control software to interface with scientific instruments
• Developing user interface components to present key scientific data
• Interacting with key stakeholders to develop and verify software requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
• Strong programming fundamentals and proficiency in at least one modern programming language
• Familiarity with software design, testing, debugging, version control, and collaborative development practices
• Ability and interest in learning unfamiliar languages, frameworks, and technical domains
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; no current clearance is required
• Ability to work on-site and access laboratory equipment as required.
• Ability to complete required safety training and follow applicable safety procedures.
• Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal business hours, typically fewer than 10 hours per year.

• Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Go
  • TypeScript / Vue
  • Python (NumPy, SciPy, OpenCV, and other scientific libraries)
  • C / C++
  • Docker

• Familiarity with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL
• Experience with digital communication protocols (TCP/UDP, serial, Modbus, etc.)
• Experience with user interface / user experience design
• Experience with data analysis / data visualization techniques
• Experience or interest in developing algorithms for large datasets (100 GB - 10 TB)

• Experience or interest in real-time software development (robotics, avionics, industrial safety, etc.)

• $70,000 - $105,000
  • Salary commensurate on education and relevant experience
