Job description

Primary Objective of Position:
To provide leadership and coaching services to Tonka Mountain Bike Club members in a Middle & High School intramural program. Ensure a safe and successful experience for all athletes during practices.  
Assignment:                                
Club season: September 1 - October 31: two practices per week on Tuesday and Saturday (tentatively) 
Wages:
Stipend
Not medical or dental benefit eligible. 
Job Responsibilities:









  1. Lead Club rides in accordance with program goals.
  2. Help all athletes to develop to their full potential.
  3. Implement program goals and guidelines; enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and manage activity penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  4. Enforce all rules of the Minnesota Cycling Association and Minnetonka Public School Policies as they pertain to the respective sport.
  5. Promote respect for trails, other riders, parents, athletes, fellow coaches, and administrators.
  6. Communicate schedule dates, times, and any changes to Club members.
  7. Communicate regularly with Recreation Program Manager.
  8. Work with Recreation Program Manager to promote and organize the Club.
  9. Plan, coordinate, and supervise the Club during events.
  10. Coordinate practice schedules with the Recreation Manager and volunteer Ride Leads.
  11. Assist the Recreation Program Manager in maintaining complete and accurate records as required (i.e. student health forms, parental consents, attendance forms, insurance records, activity/athletic code forms, etc.).
  12. Report major injuries immediately to the Recreation Program Manager.
  13. Maintain a high level of responsibility, confidentiality and professionalism.


Job Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge and experience in mountain biking.
  2. Evidence of successful coaching experience, ability to teach fundamental skills.
  3. Knowledge of State, League, and Minnetonka Public School Board Policies regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action.
  4. Understanding of, and agreement with the Minnetonka Public School District's Student Activity and Athletic Code and the Coach Handbook.
  5. Positive, enthusiastic, respectful attitude.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, parents, community members and students.
  7. Ability to work in a collaborative coaching atmosphere and accept work direction.
  8. Strong work ethic and dedication to further the benefits of student participation in co-curricular activities.
  9. Commitment to program's high standards.
  10. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
