COVER LETTER REQUIRED

  • The position will offer one hour/week of protected EPPP (psychologist licensure exam) study timeย 
  • Athena will reimburse the cost of the EPPP exam (~$700)

AthenaPsych is a New York State mental health-approved provider of community mental health services for children, adults, and families with behavioral and emotional challenges. We specialize in individual and group psychotherapy for clients with a focus on trauma-informed care. Athena is dedicated to improving the quality and accessibility of mental health care for all, especially individuals from underserved communities.ย 

Here at Athena, we pride ourselves on hiring a diverse group of mental health clinicians and staff who are passionate and dedicated to improving our clientsโ€™ overall emotional well-being. We provide both in-person and telehealth services for our clients.ย 

Athenaโ€™s psychology postdoctoral fellowship aims to prepare clinicians seeking well-rounded careers in outpatient settings and with diverse populations. Fellows are based in outpatient settings where they engage in the evaluation and treatment (individual and group-based) of clients presenting with a wide range of diagnoses. This fellowship is ideal for an individual with an interest in supervision or with a career goal of becoming a training director, as this position will be heavily involved in Athenaโ€™s large clinical internship program.ย 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for 20-25 clinical hours per week (individual/group therapy, intake interviews, psychological testing as available)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, peers, and other clinicians, to develop and implement treatment plans and provide coordinated care.
  • Provide optional supplemental clinical supervision to MSW/MHC interns secondary to their primary supervision meetings to support additional clinical development.
  • Deliver 2 didactic presentations during the year to clinicians during case conferences
  • Complete a quality improvement project under the supervision of the clinical director
  • Assist in facilitating intern seminars and in the development of intern programming.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and Athena leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship prior to post-doc start date.
  • Must have completed all coursework and requirements towards Ph.D. or Psy.D in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Degree conferral is required prior to official fellowship start date.
  • Obtained NYS psychology limited permit.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based psychology practices.
  • Knowledgeable in NYS Mandated Reporting requirements
  • Knowledgeable in HIPAA Regulations and other relevant privacy statutes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience using electronic Medical Record systems and documentation standards.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends.
  • Cultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, G-Suite, and other software/applications.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid position; on-site days will be located at our clinic sites. This is a professional work environment where a computer, desk, chair and office supplies will be provided onsite at each of our offices.
