Job description

Morris James LLP is seeking a highly organized, technology-oriented professional to support two critical administrative functions of the firm: Library & Research Services and Records Management. This position will divide its time between assisting with day-to-day library operations and supporting the implementation and ongoing administration of the firm's new records management system.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, and a willingness to learn new software platforms and legal information resources. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in both legal research support and records management while contributing to firm-wide technology initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
Library & Research Services Support

  • Assist with management of attorney and staff access to legal research platforms and court systems.
  • Maintain library materials, including filing updates, loose-leaf services, and legislative materials.
  • Monitor and track legal research assignments, alerts, and publications.
  • Download, review, organize, and distribute court opinions, regulations, legislative updates, and other legal resources.
  • Retrieve court filings, dockets, pleadings, opinions, transcripts, and related materials from court systems and subscription databases.
  • Update and maintain the firm's library catalog and research resources.
  • Process interlibrary loan requests and coordinate with external library partners.
  • Assist attorneys and staff with locating and accessing print and electronic information resources.
  • Support ongoing development and improvement of library processes and resources.
Records Management Support
  • Assist the Records Manager with the implementation and rollout of the firm's new records management software.
  • Participate in software testing, data validation, training, and user support activities.
  • Serve as a resource for attorneys and staff learning new records management processes.
  • Assist with maintenance and administration of electronic and physical client records.
  • Support incoming, outgoing, archived, and transferred file requests.
  • Assist with litigation hold processes and records-related research requests.
  • Utilize records management software to track, locate, and manage firm files and information.
  • Develop working knowledge of records management integrations with Aderant, iManage, and other firm systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of user guides, training materials, and process documentation.
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technology aptitude and comfort learning new software systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
