Job Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintains employee time for payroll purposes, in accordance with Accounting and Human Resources policies.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the behaviors of punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism towards supervisors and co-workers, and self-directed task completion.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Must comply with all departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.
  • Works normal shift hours and overtime as required.
  • Coordinates efforts as part of the team to provide assistance to all co-workers in all departments to maximize production efficiencies as needed.
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determines space requirements and lays out position of shipment.
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair; Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
  • Communicates with Purchasing and Finance Departments to update status of Purchase Orders; relays paperwork as needed.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Compiles records of unfilled orders.
  • Posts weight and shipping charges.
  • Prepares bills of lading.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Oversees inventory and works closely with the Inventory Team.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in business or related area from four-year College or university; or equivalent education, training or experience.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.
Frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 125 pounds.
Requires constant movement and bending.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
