Job description

Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Clinic Manager or Supervising Provider

 

Position Summary:

Seeking a compassionate, organized, detail-oriented medical assistant to join our primary care and Wellness clinic. The ideal candidate we'll enjoy working with people, have a professional appearance and professional demeanor. The medical assistant will support one provider with clinical and administrative duties. We are excited to welcome the right candidate to grow with our practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Greet patients and prepare them for examination (vitals, allergy, medication reconciliation)
  • Assist providers with physical exams, minor procedures, and routine diagnostic tests
  • Administer therapeutic and injections per provider orders
  • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing and schedule pick up
  • Perform point-of-care tests (e.g., glucose, urinalysis, flu, COVID-19)
  • Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and stock supplies
  • Document patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Provide patient education as directed by the provider

Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Answer phone calls and document patient messages appropriately
  • Process prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refill requests per protocol
  • Handle patient check-in/check-out as needed, collect payments and schedule follow up appointments
  • Prepare charts for provider prior to patient arrival

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
  • CPR/BLS certification required (or willing to obtain upon hire)
  • 1-3 year of clinical experience in a primary care or outpatient setting preferred
  • Familiarity with Elation EMR system is a plus
