About The Opportunity

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating shipments and receipt of material as it is available with the main objective of delivering product on time, achieving the most cost effective use of transportation, and minimizing waste. Position may require hours to flex between 1st and 2nd shift based on need. This person must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.


Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Primary link between production and customer service in planning on-time deliveries for the customer
  • Report data into customer based systems
  • Communicate with 3rd Party Logistics companies for customer-paid freight
  • Participate in meetings as needed to communicate policy, revisions, general updates, etc.
  • Meet daily with production scheduling
  • Prepare the daily schedule for shipments of inbound and outbound loads
  • Schedule freight carriers, assign/designate freight to be shipped common carrier in the most cost effective manner
  • Determine normal mode of transportation for shipment
  • Generate UPS and FedEx files to download into their systems and generate labels
  • Adjust inventory in SAP
  • Reconcile inventory
  • Review new orders and changes that affect existing orders
  • Receive in customer owned product and tag
  • Manage the dock workload with the truck drivers and forklift operators
  • Back up shipping manager or senior shipping clerk in his/her/their absence
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma desired

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of shipping/receiving and inventory control experience
