Position Summary
The Receiving Manager is responsible for leading all inbound logistics operations, ensuring the accurate, efficient, and timely receipt of raw materials and finished goods into the warehouse. This role oversees receiving teams, coordinates with suppliers and production, and ensures system and physical inventory alignment. The Receiving Manager plays a critical role in inventory accuracy, material flow, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Operations Leadership
  • Direct all receiving activities including unloading, inspection, verification, and system receipt
  • Ensure timely processing of inbound shipments to support production and order fulfillment
  • Manage dock scheduling and inbound flow to prevent congestion and delays
  • Optimize space utilization and staging for incoming materials

Supplier & Carrier Coordination
  • Serve as primary point of contact for inbound carriers and suppliers
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and manage inbound dock appointments
  • Resolve discrepancies in shipments (shortages, overages, damages)
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with receiving procedures

Inventory Accuracy & System Integrity
  • Ensure all inbound transactions are accurately recorded in IQMS/WMS
  • Validate received quantities against purchase orders and system records
  • Partner with Inventory Control to investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate location assignments and material traceability

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop receiving, leads, and warehouse associates, Support staffing and labor planning based on inbound volume
  • Establish clear expectations for productivity, accuracy, and safety, drive engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor and drive key KPIs, including: Receiving accuracy, Dock-to-stock time, Inventory discrepancy rates, Inbound processing time, Issue of Raw Materials, picking accuracy, Warehouse IRA, and space utilization
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for receiving errors and implementing corrective actions
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures related to inbound operations
  • Ensure safe unloading practices and proper equipment use
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant receiving areas

Qualifications
Required:
  • 5+ years of warehouse or distribution experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in receiving or inbound operations
  • Experience with WMS/ERP systems (IQMS preferred)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Forklift certification and knowledge of OSHA safety standards a plus

Preferred:
  • Experience in manufacturing or high-volume distribution environments
  • Knowledge of supplier compliance and inbound logistics best practices
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
