Shipping & Receiving Associate Position Purpose

Responsible for verifying accuracy of parts being received in, put into bins for stock and pulled for internal and external customers, as well as facilitating outbound shipments efficiently and accurately in order to increase revenue.
 

Shipping & Receiving Associate Essential Functions

  • Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
  • Picks, pulls, packs, and ships bin parts with accuracy in a timely and accurate manner
  • Tracks shipments and freight charges via the Internet and bills accurately
  • Receives parts into the computer system and processes as the system indicates
  • Operates material handling equipment, including forklifts and hydraulic hose-build machinery in a safety-approved manner
  • Loads and unloads delivery trucks
  • Inspects parts and inbound shipments for defects or damages
  • Picks up and delivers as directed; maintains accurate records of transport and obtains necessary signatures
  • Assists in inventory counts as needed
  • Participates in training as designated by management
  • Performs general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Adheres to all safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Acts professionally in all interactions and communications with customers and employees
  • Support parts delivery operations when required, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
  • Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendance
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Shipping & Receiving Associate Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Six (6) months of shipping and receiving experience with material handling experience preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Proficient with computer applications; shipping software preferred
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean motor vehicle record

Shipping & Receiving Associate Physical Requirements

  • Pushes/Pulls/Lifts/Carries up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors 
  • Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition
