Description
We are seeking a senior accounting professional, preferably with real estate accounting experience, who is local to our office or willing to commute daily to our headquarters in Raritan, New Jersey. This position requires an accounting degree, as well as prior experience managing and leading an accounting team.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations for multiple real estate entities and properties
  • Manage a team of 6 accountants in accounts payable and receivable
  • Manage financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis - Directly report to company President and Vice President
  • Monitor property operating expenses and capital projects
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Support audits, compliance, and tax coordination
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Work closely with leadership on financial strategy and property performance

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Accounting degree required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management
  • Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading an accounting team
  • Strong understanding of property-level financials, multi-entity structures, and real estate operations
  • Proficiency with G-suite and Appfolio preferred or similar property management software
  • Experience working with property operations and/or involvement in on-site projects strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate independently while contributing at a leadership level
