READING EDUCATION ASSISTANT
Hiring Pay Range $16.26 - $17.26 per hour DOE
.5 FTE 20 hours per week
10 months, 188 paid work days
Non- Exempt
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM-12PM
Monday- Ventana Vista Elementary
Tuesday- Canyon View Elementary
Wednesday - Sunrise Drive Elementary
Thursday- Manzanita Elementary
Friday - Sunrise Drive Elementary

Definition:
Under immediate supervision of certified teaching staff or subject specialists. Performs work of moderate difficulty assisting in the structured education of students. Assignment may be with students of any grade level and may include support in specialized learning environments such as computer labs.
Essential Functions:

Tasks:
Work with students individually and in groups to assess reading progress and assist with reading lessons according to the teacher's plan.
Read to and assist students in reading.
Prepare instructional materials.
Administer tests such as DIBELS, Six Minute Solution and Phonics Screener and input data in computer program.
Track and maintain accurate records of student academic progress.
Maintain instructional files.
Provide detailed feedback about progress to the teacher.
Assist teachers in carrying out educational program.
Interact with children to encourage positive self concept and enthusiasm for the discovery process.
Prepare and care for the classroom as needed.
Adhere to the goals, policies and procedures of the program.
Supervise students as assigned; be directly responsible for their safety and welfare.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
Knowledge of CFSD and school policies and procedures regarding student discipline.
Knowledge of reading curriculum.
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
Skill in operating a variety of standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, calculators, paper cutters, overhead projector, scanners and computers.
Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students and parents.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree required. Must provide transcript upon hire.
Special Requirements:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level I - IVPP Fingerprint Clearance card through Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Valid Arizona Driver's license and clear driving record.
CPR certificate and First Aid certificate are required within one (1) year of hire.
