What is a readiness program manager?

A Readiness Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that an organization, team, or project is fully prepared to achieve its goals, especially during times of change or when launching new initiatives. They assess current processes, identify gaps in skills or resources, and develop plans to address these gaps. Their role often includes coordinating training, communication, and resource allocation to optimize performance and minimize risks. Readiness Program Managers work across departments to drive collaboration and ensure smooth transitions during organizational changes.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a readiness program manager?

To thrive as a Readiness Program Manager, you need expertise in project management, operational planning, and process improvement, often supported by a bachelor's degree and experience in program or change management. Familiarity with project management tools (like MS Project or Asana), data analysis platforms, and certifications such as PMP or Agile are commonly required. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you drive cross-functional initiatives and align teams toward readiness goals. These competencies ensure smooth program execution, organizational preparedness, and effective response to business disruptions.

How does a readiness program manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success?

A Readiness Program Manager works closely with various departments such as product, operations, sales, and customer support to align project deliverables and timelines. They facilitate regular meetings, coordinate communication, and manage dependencies to ensure all stakeholders are prepared for upcoming launches or changes. Collaboration often involves identifying gaps in processes, creating training materials, and ensuring all teams have the resources needed for a smooth rollout. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive consensus among diverse groups.

  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage delivery risks, resource constraints, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Work directly with Agile and Scrum teams to align delivery schedules, release commitments, and business priorities.
Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management, Program Management, Product Readiness, Delivery Management, or related leadership roles.
  • Strong experience leading complex, cross-functional technology initiatives in enterprise software or financial services environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution across matrixed organizations and multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Expertise in program governance, risk management, dependency management, and executive communications.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies, Jira, Confluence, and software delivery practices.

  • Experience partnering with Engineering, Architecture, UX, Data Science, Compliance, Security, and Go-to-Market teams to deliver enterprise AI solutions.
  • Financial services and investment management domain expertise, including areas such as portfolio management, trading, investment operations, reconciliations, corporate actions, performance measurement and attribution, derivatives, bank loans, or collateral management.
  • Experience leading large-scale platform, transformation, or modernization initiatives.
