Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. RCC offers 24 associate degree programs, 6 credit-based certificate programs, 13 non-credit professional certification programs, 30+ lifelong learning and fitness classes, and customized incumbent worker training programs. Job Description:

Title: ESOL Instructor (Non-Credit Courses)

Reports to: Dean of Workforce and Business Development

Date: Fall 2025

Scope of work:

The Mission of the Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at Roxbury Community College is to provide quality professional training for the residents of the Greater Roxbury and surrounding Boston metropolitan communities, skills upgrades for new and incumbent workers, and customized training for Businesses to help them reach their workforce goals. We offer a variety of short-term, non-credit training courses during the day and evening hours, and at weekends so students can attend training on a schedule that is convenient for them.

The Center for Workforce Development at RCC is hiring an ESOL instructorto teach two or more weekly classes in-person in the mornings or evenings.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Teach in-person and potentially virtual ESOL classes, primarily mornings (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) or evenings (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM).
  • Collaborate with the ESOL program manager to ensure course quality, assess student progress, and employ diverse teaching methods.
  • Help students master course content, maintain accurate records, and support curriculum development.
  • Stay current in the field of ESOL teaching
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work assigned schedule reliably and punctually
  • Attend periodic faculty training meetings
  • Assess student performance in achieving course goals and objectives
  • Keep accurate records in accordance with the Roxbury Community College policies
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the ESOL program manager and Center for Workforce Development staff
  • Collaborate with the ESOL program manager to continually improve course
  • Adapt and utilize course syllabi
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience teaching ESOL courses or possession of TESOL /TEFL Certificate
  • Ability to employ various teaching methods
  • Commitment to working with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in TESOL or a related field
  • Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, especially at a community college.
  • Content knowledge in healthcare or mathematics.
  • Experience with curriculum development and online/hybrid teaching.
  • Familiarity with AV equipment and Microsoft Office.

Compensation:$45 per hour

Location:Roxburycampus

Unit Status: Non-union

Expected Start Date: ASAP
