What You Will Do

In this role, the Solution Train Engineer (STE) for the M2C2 program will be the servant leader and coach for the Solution Train on the M2C2 program.  This role works closely with Solution Managers, Agile Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Product Managers, Program, & IPT Leadership to de-conflict program priorities, resolve cross-team issues, lead the Program-level Scrum of Scrums and Program Increment (PI) Planning. The STE facilitates cross-team/cross-discipline coordination and communication.

Responsibilities:

Leads as the highest authority on the implementation and optimization of the Scaled Agile framework on the Program. Leads Program-level Scrum-of-Scrums to manage impediments
Implements the program and release level processes for multiple Agile Release Trains demonstrating servant leadership combined with domain knowledge and technical experience
Conduct and lead quarterly program events and activities including Program Increment (PI) Planning, lessons learned from previous PI, and creation of the Release and Build Plans
Mentors and coaches Release Train Engineers (RTEs) and Scrum Masters
Guides design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer and stakeholder priorities
Manages and optimizes the flow of value of the Solution Train and Agile Release Train using a variety of tools and methods to ensure strategy and execution alignment
Collaborate and engage with key customer contacts, Solution Managers, RTEs, and Product Managers to translate business strategy into technology strategy and ensure that capabilities required by the business are collected, prioritized, and enabled
Applies advanced Agile, Lean and SAFe principles and skills
Escalates and tracks key ART or Agile Development Metrics, to include impact of any ongoing impediments and the associated solution path.
Responsible for working with the ART—Level RTEs and Product Managers to ensure Feature completion and ensures Features meet the acceptance criteria

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience

  • Experience with implementing and aligning Lean, Agile and DevSecOps methodologies, frameworks, and tools

  • Familiarity with cloud-based environments, modern software development processes and practices 

  • Demonstrates strong sense of urgency, ownership and operates in a collaborative manner

  • Possess requisite knowledge and expertise recognized in the professional community

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Exceptional leadership skills to coordinate collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines

  • Experience with widely successful Agile techniques, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, task definition, incremental delivery and the value of metrics

  • Ability to lead / manage tasks over a large group of engineers (100+) and coordinate issues/priorities across disciplines

  • Ability to manage, train and mentor junior engineers

  • An active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development

  • Experience with one or more areas of satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics models

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or other relevant technical discipline.

  • CSM (Certified Scrum Master) / CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) / RTE (Release Train Engineer)

  • Experience using a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

  • Experience using JIRA and associated plugins.

  • Experience with Information Assurance and Cyber Security requirements.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
