Job description

This position is part of the Wood Products Raw Materials Procurement business supporting the northwest mill set along with the mills in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Canada and will report to the Vice President of Raw Materials Procurement.
 

The successful candidate will lead Safety and Sustainability for this mill set Raw Materials & By-products organization. This leader will be a member of the Raw Materials and By-products Lead Team and lead the log procurement operations[AP1.1] team for Manufacturing facilities in WA, OR, MT and Canada. This leader will also be a skilled collaborator with business leaders of operations and planning in Lumber, Panels, EWP and Timberlands.

Key Functions:

  • Exemplify and advance superior safety and environmental performance

  • Establish strong working partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders

  • Maintain current and develop potential new - key supplier, customers and contractor relationships

  • Focal point / lead for IFP process with the associated Timberlands Regions

  • Collaborate with Timberlands on Integration Excellence and Cross Business OPX

  • Collaborate with Director of Operations and Planning and By-products Manager - focus areas include: 

    4 pillars (Volume, Size, Cost and Quality) - 4 Entities (Raw Materials, Manufacturing, Timberlands and Sales) - Roadmaps - Benchmarking

  • Price Forecasting, budgeting and planning - Capital projects -Special (named) projects.

  • Collaborate with CDO on business development

  • Develop Strategic Roadmaps for each mill and operating area for Raw Materials and By-products

  • Execute on WY vision and People Principles

  • Conduct tours of potential business partners and company executives as requested.

  • Collaborate with Corporate support teams including HR, Finance, Legal, Environmental, Sustainability

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Forestry or related field OR an equivalent in education/experience
  • Proactive safety leader with a demonstrated safety record and commitment to workplace safety culture, with the ability to seek out and work with safe and reliable business partners 
  • At least 10 years of raw materials applicable job experience 
  • Contract negotiation experience 
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate across organizational boundaries 
  • Demonstrated ability in leading diverse groups of people 
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments 
  • Market knowledge of wood products manufacturing and By-products 
  • Supply agreement compliance understanding 
  • Understanding of environmental compliance 
  • Experience in Microsoft Business tools to support budgeting and planning 
  • Experience creating and managing forecasts and budgets 
  • Understanding of transportation and harvesting systems including day rate analysis and contractor efficiency and health 
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills 
  • Development, replication, and execution of best practices 
  • Willing to travel 50% based on business requirements 
  • Must live in WA or OR within a 60-mile radius of one of the mill locations within the scope of the position.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $144,700-$217,100 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 25% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
