Job description

CHEM SHED SPECIALIST needed at Frontier Cooperative's Waverly, NE location
Agriculture is Nebraska's number one industry. One in four jobs in Nebraska is tied to farming and ranching making Agriculture Nebraska's #1 industry. In this position, you will work closely with our Operations, Grain, & Agronomy departments while managing the day-to-day activities in the Chemical Shed.
A significant part of the Chem Shed Specialist duties involves operating the Kahler System to dispense appropriate pre-determined amounts of chemicals to fill tender trucks. Additional duties & requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide effective management & coordination of the Waverly Chem shed.
  • Assist applicators & agronomists with preparing pre-determined amounts of liquid & dry chemicals & fertilizers for our customers.
  • Managing, mixing, loading, transferring liquid nitrogen &/or other bulk chemicals onto Tender trucks.
  • Inventory Management including documenting chemical inventories & creating Blend TIckets.
  • Assisting the Operations Departments with various warehouse, elevator, weighing trucks & operating the scale on occasion. Opportunities to assist with the Seed Shed operation, Equipment, Building & Grounds maintenance duties are also available.

Skills needed for success in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Experience in the Agriculture industry is preferred, but not required. This position offers extensive paid training after hire.
  • Outstanding communication skills are needed to assure we provide the Ultimate Customer Experience to our customers. Additionally, Frontier Cooperative operates on an 'all-hands-on-deck' philosophy: we expect all employees & drivers to be willing to help other locations & departments, when needed.
  • Skilled mechanical abilities are preferred for this position, but not required.
  • This position is required to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Sit, stand, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, & walk for prolonged periods of time
  • This position requires the ability to work in extreme outdoor & indoor Nebraska climates, around grain dust, & near chemicals.
  • Strong English, Math & Communication skills are needed to be successful in this multi-faceted position.
  • Safety First is strictly enforced by every employee at Frontier Cooperative. PPE equipment is provided & required when working in designated areas & with hazardous materials or conditions.
  • A CDL license is not required for this position, however it is preferred. FC will assist the right applicant with obtaining a CDL license after hire, if needed.
