Rantec isย located in Los Osos, California is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.

Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for the ongoing support, enhancement, and optimization of the Companyโ€™s ERP system, BI tools, and related software systems. The role partners closely with Operations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Quality) and IT personnel to translate business needs into effective system and reporting solutions, troubleshoot application and database issues, and improve data-related processes. The Data Analyst supports system implementations and upgrades, user access management, documentation, and vendor/consultant coordination while adhering to data governance, compliance, and corporate IT standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex requests by partnering with stakeholders to understand underlying business needs, gather requirements, design solution frameworks, develop queries/scripts/reports/data visualizations/system customizations, validate outputs, deploy solutions, and provide ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot issues within the front (web client application) and back-end (database) of the ERP software.
  • Streamline and standardize processes to collect, access, create, edit, and delete data.
  • Support user access management (licensing, permissions, and system access) according to the principle of least privilege.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain procedural/informational documents/spreadsheets.
  • Act as a liaison between the Company, software vendors, and external consultants.
  • Support system implementation and upgrade projects.
  • Facilitate the potential transition from current BI tools (Qlik/homegrown reports) to future BI tool.
  • Advocate for enhanced data governance by promoting data quality and enforcing data security guidelines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, if needed.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Companyโ€™s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems/Industrial Technology and Packaging/Quantitative Analysis, Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science, Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience preferred working independently and collaboratively on data analytics projects involving the use of various programming languages and database management software systems.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to speak both business and technical languages based on the audience that you are addressing, supporting, or working with.
  • Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to create, manage and execute upon a plan, both in terms of self-management as well as working with small process improvement teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft: SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, and the Office suite.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with Qlik, PowerBI, or a similar BI tool.
  • Experience with Infor Syteline is a plus.
  • Experience with Windows PowerShell is a plus.
