Job Summary:

The AMF (Advanced Mobile Flagging) position will perform on-site roadway worker protection for activities around live railroad tracks and are responsible for job site coordination, alerting track vehicles of work groups on the roadway, and hold track vehicles at designated stations when required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide the required jobsite protection on each assignment, error free and consistent with the rules; including but not limited to radio communication with train dispatchers and engineers, ensuring work groups are clear of limits during train movements, granting permission for trains and on-track equipment to proceed through limits
  • Perform daily job briefings with all personnel on the job site and ensure all personnel adhere to the safety requirements of the railroad
  • Prepare and submit required electronic forms including but not limited to: a job set-up form for each flagging assignment, daily work reports, invoices, and other reports as required
  • Handle and place signs, derail and other tools and equipment weighing 15 to 90 pounds, which may be necessary multiple times throughout the day
  • Actively participate in routine reoccurring safety classes and qualification training
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the RWIC supervisors and managers regarding the various assignments and schedules
  • Other duties assigned or required to meet the business needs

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Able to complete required physical demands and/or tasks
  • Able to effectively warn roadway workers of the approach of trains
  • Understand the On-Track Safety training and qualification required of the roadway workers to be protected
  • Proficient in the radio procedure for communicating between AMF and assigned work group
  • Proficient in performing job briefings with all the roadway workers within their work location
  • Proficiency with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)

Required Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • A minimum of 2 years in track and/or construction experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior construction experience
  • Prior experience working within a railway company
  • Former Military, Law Enforcement, Fire & Emergency Medical, or related occupations
  • Former construction experience which requires compliance with OSHA regulations or the equivalent
  • Former Shipyard experience
